Leaning into the room’s tall ceilings, we created a space that feels dreamy, airy and cozy all at once. The room is wrapped in billowy clouds, while a playful paper-plane-inspired ceiling light adds a little magic overhead.

We kept the floor plan intentionally open so there’s plenty of room for those epic train sets, then layered in decorative touches inspired by his interests — cars and dinosaurs! — so the room feels personal without feeling overly themed.

Soft textures, rounded edges and cozy details, like the paper rope lamp and nightstand, make the room feel warm and inviting. And because this was a big-kid room designed to support growing independence, we added a full-length mirror for body awareness and independent dressing, along with low book ledges so he can choose his own bedtime story.

Open and closed storage gives everything a home while leaving room for his needs and interests to evolve over time. And, perhaps most importantly, the room feels like his — a space he was proud to show off to family and friends, and even the first stop on the tour he gave his new baby sister.
