A true blank slate, I envisioned an inviting playroom designed to encourage exploration, movement, rest and meaningful connection.

The window nook became the natural home for comfortable, family-friendly seating, with a low, accessible book wall beside it so the boys can independently choose their own stories. A low activity table anchors the space, doubling as a coffee table when not in use for Lego builds, train sets and Magnetiles.

Adjacent to the seating area, a two-storey play structure creates a dedicated world for imaginative play, complete with a swinging chair and generous floor space for ever-evolving kitchens, markets and play stations. Upstairs, a cozy hideaway features a wall-to-wall floor pillow, while a sleek basketball net mounted to the exterior adds another layer of active fun.

Across the room, a climbing wall offers multiple ways to move and explore, including a rock wall, climbing ladder and disc swing — encouraging gross motor development and confidence-building movement.

A dedicated toy hub rounds out the space, combining open and closed storage for toys and arts and crafts supplies. A magnetic art gallery and whiteboard provide a place for creativity and self-expression, while keeping the room organized and ready for whatever kind of play the day brings.
