My clients had just moved into their new home and knew that creating an intentional shared play space for their boys was a top priority.
Located on the top floor, a spare bedroom adjacent to both boys’ rooms proved to be the perfect setting — easily accessible for early morning play and a calm, connected space for evening wind-downs as a family.

The Transformation
A true blank slate, I envisioned an inviting playroom designed to encourage exploration, rest, play, and meaningful connection.
The window nook became the natural home for comfortable, family-friendly seating. Just beside it, a low, accessible book wall allows the boys to independently choose their own stories. A low activity table anchors the space, thoughtfully doubling as a coffee table when not in use for Lego builds, train sets, and Magnetiles.
Adjacent to the seating area sits a two-storey play structure, complete with a playful swinging chair and generous floor space for open-ended pretend play — from kitchens and markets to ever-evolving play stations. Upstairs, a cozy hideaway features a wall-to-wall floor pillow, while a sleek basketball net mounted on the exterior adds another layer of active fun.
Across the room, the climbing wall offers multiple ways to move and explore, including a rock wall, climbing ladder, and disc swing — inviting both gross motor play and confidence-building movement.
Rounding out the space is a dedicated toy hub with a mix of open and closed storage for toys and arts and crafts supplies, along with a magnetic art gallery and magnetic whiteboard to support creativity and self-expression.
